Designed in 1933, the Safari series was an early modern take on English safari furniture which in turn was modeled on Roman campaign furniture; designed to be easily broken down, transported and reassembled  

The side table is just one example of this series by Klint. The Safari chair & footstool being the most well known .

The table disassembles by removing the the top and undoing the leather strap allowing the lower struts to be removed as the legs are released.

Condition: Vintage, Expected minor patina and wear and tear. Structurally sound. The original leather strap is fully intact. 

Kaare Klint (1888-1954) was a Danish architect and furniture designer. He is considered to be one of the leading figures in the development of Danish modern furniture design. He is particularly known for his work on the "Kirkestolen" (The Church Chair) which was designed in 1930 for the Frederiksborg Church in Hillerød, Denmark. The chair is considered a masterpiece of functional design and has become an iconic piece of Danish furniture design. The chair is made of oak and features a simple, elegant design with a bent backrest and tapered legs. The Kirkestolen remains an important piece of Danish design and is still in production today.
